Event - Annual Unity Pink Motorcycle Ride

On Saturday, Oct. 9, the Annual Unity Pink Motorcycle Ride and Event returned to St. Augustine, Fl to raise funds for a community outreach program. The non-profit, Unity Outreach, creates awareness and helps to provide monetary support for women who are currently undergoing breast cancer treatment and past survivors.

Two sisters, Peggy Jones and Sherry Turner, founded Unity Outreach after Sherry lost her daughter Wendy Judeen Owens to breast cancer. Through their non-profit, they hope to support other families battling breast cancer. All of the funds the raise stays in the local community to help with needs not covered by insurance.

This year's event began and ended at the Harley Davidson dealership at the St. Augustine Outlet. Over the approximately 70-mile route, the motorcycle ride took bikers through some of the most scenic roadways in the St. Augustine area.

Along with the ride, the event also included live music from Moses Creek Band. "Everyone here today knows someone who has had or been affected by breast cancer, so it's important we come out here and show our support," said Lisa Mack, the band's keyboardist.

Through donations, the silent auction, and food, the event was able to raise $18,000 and had over 150 bikers participated in the ride.
"It was an honor for us to participate in this year's Unity Ride and Event and we appreciate everything the two women do for the community," said Cathy Riddle, one of the bikers in this year's event.
